Gigi The Butterfly
Meet Gigi the Butterfly, the graceful traveller whose wings shimmer with every colour of the rainbow. She began life as a tiny caterpillar in Dan the Gardener’s rosemary bush at Nan Fran’s Cottage, spending her early days munching leaves, dreaming big, and wondering what it would feel like to fly.
When the time came to spin her cocoon, Gigi wrapped herself in a silken blanket of patience and trust. When she finally emerged, she discovered the true beauty of change, spreading her new wings for the very first time. Since then, she’s become quite the traveller, fluttering far beyond Three Little Woods to meadows, orchards, and gardens across the countryside.
Everywhere she goes, Gigi collects stories about the flowers she’s visited, the bees she’s met (especially friend Queenie the Bee), and the children I’ve met along the way who are curious about where I have visited. Back home, she loves sharing her tales with Florance the Earthworm, Nan Fran and the rest of her friends, teaching everyone that adventure doesn’t always mean going far, it’s about noticing the wonder in every place you land.
🦋 Did you know?
Butterflies and moths go through four amazing stages in their life cycle: Egg → Larva (Caterpillar) → Pupa (Chrysalis) → Adult Butterfly or Moth.
Because of their bright colours, butterflies love to flutter about in the daylight, while most moths prefer the night.
Some butterflies, like Gigi, travel huge distances, the equivalent of walking from Land’s End to Scotland five times! Gigi’s gentle, curious spirit encourages children to believe in their own journeys, that every stage, from the smallest beginning to the brightest flight, is part of something extraordinary.
Her motto: “Change can be beautiful, and every journey tells a story.” 🦋
Or as Gigi likes to say with a twirl of her wings, “Butterflies love to flutter by.”
