Christmas Ginger Star Biscuits

πŸ‘©β€πŸ³ Method

Always ask an adult to help with hot ovens and electrical equipment.

  1. Preheat the oven to 180Β°C / 350Β°F / Gas Mark 4.
  2. In a mixing bowl, use an electric whisk to beat the butter and sugar together until pale and fluffy.
    Ask an adult to help.
  3. Add the golden syrup, flour, ground ginger and bicarbonate of soda. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Wrap the dough in cling film and chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 0.5cm thick.
  6. Cut out star shapes using a star cutter. Re-roll the trimmings and continue until all the dough is used.
  7. Place the stars onto baking trays lined with baking paper.
Use the end of a straw to make a small hole near the top of each star.
  8. Bake for about 8 minutes until lightly golden.
Ask an adult for help with the oven.
  9. Leave to cool on the tray for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Decorate with white icing and edible silver balls if you like.
Thread silver ribbon through the holes and tie a loop so the biscuits can hang on the Christmas tree.
